Pole cups are 1.75" wide
Top hook - Entrance .65"
Top hook - Resting spot .5"
Most poles are going to fit just fine. Notice in my photos I have a large catfish rig that is FAT! These thick poles just require you to mount the top part of the holder a little higher on your wall.
I'm using 1" screws into 1/2" drywall. I'm also using those cheap plastic anchors. You can't do a pullup from it but it holds three big reels just fine!
